Medium red. Aromas of plum, redcurrant, raspberry, tobacco and spicy oak; young and pristine. Sweet and pliant, with firm supporting acidity giving brightness to the wine's fruit. Finishes with moderate length and slightly tough tannins.
(aged in a combination of large ovals and barriques, with very little new oak used) Medium red. Pure, aromatic nose combines cherry, redcurrant, plum and minerals. Sweet but reserved, with good definition of flavor and spicy lift. Finishes juicy, firmly tannic and persistent. Serious, nicely balanced Barbaresco.
(a selection from old vines, aged entirely in barriques, 50% new) Bright, deep red. Sexy aromas of plum, game and smoky oak. A bit sweeter and more concentrated than the normale but more backward, with notes of tar and mint. The normale shows more juicy berry flavor today, while this is more dominated by its structure and finishes with substantial oak tannins. It's hard to believe this won't be better in the long run.
