Other wines tasted: 2005 Chablis*. (Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines, New York, NY)
($24) Good pale color. Fresh, clean aromas of orange zest, tangerine, mint and spring flowers. Juicy, fruity and nicely concentrated, with gentle but fresh flavors of pineapple and dusty minerals. Not especially complex but lively and very nicely balanced. Finishes with very good persistence.
($25) Pale, green-tinged color. Vibrant aromas of lime, powdered stone and white flowers. Pure flavors of lime, pear and white peach boast lovely cut for such a thoroughly ripe Chablis. With its dusty impression of extract, this really clings to the palate. Vocoret's top bottlings are reliably good value. (This producer's grand crus had not yet arrived in the U.S. at press time.)
