2004 1847 Pappy's Paddock Shiraz Barossa Valley
($35) Inky violet. Ripe blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose, with hints of fresh rose and cured tobacco. Sweet dark berry and candied cherry flavors display impressive depth and a smooth, velvety texture. Whatever tannins are here are hiding underneath the ripe berry fruit. Finishes sweet and supple, with excellent persistence.
