($45) Yellow-gold. Buttery apple and pear aromas are brightened by lemon zest and minerals; there's something riesling-like about this. Vibrant citrus and orchard fruit flavors display excellent cut and thrust, with bright stony notes on the back. Finishes with impressive lift and clarity.
($65) Bright yellow. Fresh pear and peach scents are deepened by smoked meat and white flowers. Fleshy and deep in orchard fruit flavors but also lively and minerally, with tangy citrus notes on the finish. This uncompromisingly dry chardonnay possesses impressively bright, juicy citrus flavors. Finishes with striking persistence.
($45) Light red. Spicy strawberry and raspberry on the nose, with subtle accents of Asian spices and minerals. Precise, elegant pinot, with bright, mineral-tinged red berry flavors, fairly light weight and a crisp, focused finish. This is quite graceful.
($65) Dark red. Sexy raspberry and blackberry scents verge on liqueur-like but are enlivened by bright mineral and floral notes. Lush, creamy and smooth, with sweet dark berry flavors lifted by suave oak spice. Very supple tannins won't get in the way of this wine's immediate appeal but it has the depth to repay a few years of cellaring. Superb length here.
($85) Dark red. A captivating bouquet encompasses the range of red and dark berries, with sexy floral and baking notes adding further complexity. Deep and sweet but at the same time energetic, with palate-staining blackberry and blueberry flavors, floral pastille nuances and silky tannins. This is awfully sexy pinot and would give many top American examples a good run for their money.
($45) Deep ruby. Lively red and dark berry aromas are complicated by classic syrah notes of licorice, violet and olive. Tobacco-accented red- and blackcurrant flavors are energized by tangy acidity and mineral notes that carry into the finish. A crisp, focused midweight with very good life and persistence.
