($18) Pale yellow. Varietally accurate peach, yellow plum and pear aromas, with hints of jasmine and beeswax. A fleshy midweight with nicely balanced citrus and pit fruit flavors and refreshing minerality. Gains depth and sweetness on the persistent spicy finish.
($18) Dark red. Open-knit black and blue fruits on the nose, plus a hint of dried rose. A lush, creamy midweight, with sweet blueberry jam and blackcurrant flavors and very soft tannins. Decidedly New World in texture and sweetness; I wonder if I'd guess this, blind, to be tempranillo?
($20) Inky purple. Highly expressive blackberry and candied plum aromas display good clarity and are deepened by notes of cured tobacco and mocha. Lush and round but the dark fruit flavors have an appealing restraint and focus, too. Soft tannins build on the long, velvety finish. This has the balance to age.
($35) Deep ruby. Textbook cabernet aromas of red- and blackcurrant, tobacco, graphite and dried flowers, with a gentle kiss of vanillin oak. Elegant and fresh, with bright red and dark berry flavors, silky tannins and brisk finishing acidity. This nicely-focused midweight has the balance to repay cellaring but is awfully delicious today.
($35) Inky purple. Ripe blackberry and candied plum scents, with rich chocolate and roasted coffee accents. Fresh dark berry flavors are enlivened by zesty acidity and gently supported by soft tannins. Finishes on brighter red berry notes, with lingering baking spices. This has sneaky length and excellent purity of fruit. (Vine Street Imports, Philadelphia, PA)
