($18) Bright straw. High-pitched mineral- and fresh grass-accented citrus aromas are reminiscent of Sancerre. Lively lemon/lime and green apple flavors are precise and concentrated, with lipsmacking acidity carrying through the finish. Impressive for its balance of power and precise citrus and mineral flavors.
($30) Deep ruby. Powerful raspberry and cassis on the nose, with exotic Asian spice and floral oil accents. Liqueur-like dark berry flavors are impressively poised on a silky, midweight frame, with gentle tannins building on the back. Takes a turn to bitter cherry on the long, juicy finish, with the sexy spice notes repeating.
($58) Inky violet. Explosively perfumed bouquet of creme de mure, blueberry, vanilla, rose, clove and cinnamon. Velvety in texture and strikingly sweet, with powerful dark berry and cherry flavors underscored by strong vanillin oak. But this doesn't come off as woody, thanks to immensely concentrated dark berry fruit, which seems to explode on the aftertaste. Wonderfully expressive shiraz with the depth and balance to repay cellaring. But it's hard to resist today. (Epicurean Wines, Seattle, WA)
