($25) Ruby-red. Candied cherry, plum and red licorice on the nose, with hints of cracked pepper and vanilla. Lush cherry-vanilla and blackberry flavors are seductively sweet and nicely lifted by gentle acidity. This medium-bodied, gently tannic shiraz has a persistent, sweet finish. A nicely balanced example of an Australian fruit bomb.
($23) Deep ruby. Pungent dark berry and floral aromas deepened by tobacco and espresso. Exotic blackberry and cassis fruit flavors are complicated by floral pastille, spicy tobacco and cured meat nuances. This really coats the palate. Finishes on an attractively spicy note, with lingering sweetness and good length. (Kysela Pere et Fils, Winchester, VA)
