($17) Light yellow. Pungent peach and apricot on the nose, with complicating floral and mineral accents. Pliant orange and peach flavors possess good depth and are gently firmed by soft acidity. Takes a tangy, peppery turn on the finish, which shows good depth and length.
($17; a 94/6 blend) Deep ruby. A dead ringer for a northern Rhone syrah on the nose, with high-toned cassis, cherry, tobacco, olive and graphite aromas. Round, fleshy and sweet, with jammy blueberry and plum flavors spiked by black pepper and tangy minerals. Finishes sweet and sappy, with noteworthy persistence. These wines are made by the ubiquitous Ben Riggs.
