($16; a blend of sangiovese, canaiolo nero, malvasia nera and colorino) Medium bright ruby. Pretty, deep aromas of sweet red cherry and orange zest. Juicy and penetrating, with good texture to the ripe fruit, but the red cherry, plum and cured tobacco flavors could use more length. Still, this offers a soft, easygoing appeal and should prove very enjoyable with food.
($52) Ruby-red. Clean, fresh aromas and flavors of floral red berries, citrus, sage and marjoram. On the light side, with good vinosity and a somewhat short but nicely perfumed, floral finish. The wine's slightly edgy acids and light tannins are in balance with its fruit. Not a blockbuster but enjoyably fruity and fresh.
