2005 Lo Brujo Macabeo Calatayud

($9) Pale gold. Zesty citrus and melon on the nose, with hints of dill and talc. The palate offers fresh, taut citrus peel and orange flavors, a fleshy texture and good length. A subtle note of peach comes up on the very end. Great value here.

2004 Lo Brujo Rosado Calatayud

($8; 100% garnacha) Dark pink. Spicy, almost peppery red berries and cherry on the nose, with an exotic blood orange note. Full, fleshy and rich in raspberry and cherry flavor, with the concentration to stand up to richer dishes, even grilled red meats. This is one rich pink wine and especially impressive at the price.

2004 Lo Brujo Garnacha Calatayud

($9) Medium red. Fresh red berries and cherry on the nose, with deeper notes of chocolate and black tea adding complexity. Tightly wound red fruit flavors slowly open and flesh out, with a tangy mineral undercurrent providing energy and lift. Finishes tangy and bright, with a lingering note of redcurrant.

2003 Lo Brujo Garnacha Roble Calatayud

($14) Medium red. Raspberry preserves, cherry and plum on the nose, plus a hint of peppery spice. Strong, well-focused red berry flavors are accented by spicy herbs and bitter chocolate. Light in weight but intensely flavored and elegant. The spicy quality carries through the finish. (Bon Vivant Imports, Boise, ID)
