
Although there are a handful of standouts in the Medoc in 1998, merlot was particularly favored, and there are likely to be numerous outstanding wines from St. Emilion and, especially, Pomerol. Futures prices have generally opened lower than last year, making '98 a vintage of some interest to Bordeaux lovers.
