2012 and 2011 White Burgundies

The perilous 2012 growing season, which featured a very difficult flowering and multiple hail storms, yielded a tiny crop of grapes for growers on the Cote de Beaune.  Not surprisingly, the white wines are highly concentrated, thick and rich; the best of them are outstanding.  My annual report on white Burgundy also includes notes on the finished 2011s, an elegant, inviting crop of wines bottled at very reasonable alcohol levels.
