Working under Bryan Babcock in the Santa Rita Hills, Jason Drew learned the importance of vineyard site, especially the virtue of cool-climate California coastal vineyards. This training has guided both Jason's pursuit of Pinot Noir and Syrah grapes from small vineyards in Santa Rita Hills, Sonoma Coast, Anderson Valley, Yorkville Highlands and Mendocino Ridge, as well as his purchase, with his wife Molly, of property on a ridgetop overlooking Anderson Valley to the east and the Pacific Ocean three miles to the west. Soon this will begin yielding grapes for estate-labeled wines, but until then, expect Jason to continue applying his artisanal instincts to cool microclimate coastal grapes.
