What you see, it seems, is not always what you get, for while this bottling starts out with effusive aromas of caramel and very sweet fruit that both teeter right on the edge of overt overripeness, it surprises with its very well-balanced, attractive flavors that are keyed more on berries than on out-of-control ripeness. Supple and smooth and sporting a nice note of enlivening acid, it is a nicely made Zinfandel with the potential to grow for a couple of years.
