Sabor Real Toro 2006

90 Point Wine from 80+-year-old vines
Our latest find from Spain is the 2006 Sabor Real Toro from Bodegas Campinas, made from 100% Tinta de Toro, the local clone of the more common Tempranillo grape. This rich, jammy, spicy treat is a perfect wine to pair with whatever's going to be on your grill this Labor Day weekend.

Sabor real was rated 90 points in the August 2008 issue of The Wine Advocate, with the following tasting notes by The Advocate's Jay Miller:

"The 2006 Toro was aged in French and American oak, 50% new. Purple colored, it has an excellent, slightly roasted perfume with notes of wood smoke, scorched earth, espresso, and blackberry. Full-bodied, fat, and well-endowed on the palate, the wine has gobs of spicy, forward fruit, excellent balance, and enough structure to last for another 8 years. It is a spectacular value in Toro that totally over-delivers for its bargain basement price. This is one to buy by the case. The Bodegas was started in 2003 and all of the wines are produced from estate owned Tinta de Toro vines, most of them over 80 years of age."

Regularly priced at $12.99, right now this wine is on sale for only $9.99 while supplies last.
