This week we present an outstanding Italian red made from 100% Sangiovese, but priced significantly lower than many of its brethren from Tuscany. The 2008 Di Majo Norante Sangiovese comes from the Molise region, situated on the Adriatic Sea between Puglia and Abruzzo. The wine is aged in steel and large oak barrels for six months in order to achieve greater smoothness and softness while preserving the supple fruity flavors of Sangiovese. Deliciously smooth, plush and juicy on the palate with loads of ripe fruit, Di Majo Sangiovese is recommended with pasta, pizza, sausages, parmigiana and grilled meats. The August 2009 issue of the Wine Advocate rated this wine 90 points, with the following review:
