Expert Reviews
Much in the model of past Dominus offerings, this is a big-bodied and dense Cabernet that emphasizes ripeness, muscle and oaky richness above all else, and, if successful in some measure in its efforts, it wants for a brighter, better articulated sense of basic fruit to win our unqualified enthusiasm. It is sufficiently tannic to keep for years, but its keeping comes with no assurance of grace or polish.
Good ruby-red. Superripe aromas of plum, cherry, licorice, mocha, smoke and minerals. At once sweet and gripping, with very intense, nuanced flavors of cherry, plum, currant, tobacco, minerals and currant leaf. Despite the very high pH of 4.01, this shows no shortage of energy in the mouth. A muscular, firmly tannic, serious wine for aging.
