2001 Isole e Olena Cabernet Sauvignon Collezione De Marchi
|
Merchant Reviews Like many of their contemporaries, the De Marchi family, in the early days of Isole e Olena's existence, came to believe that Tuscany's wine future lay in the international varieties and international styles gaining so much notoriety in California. Consequently, they planted 5 hectares of Bordeaux clones on the hills facing southwest above frazione Isole. The wine, as with everything Paolo makes, is an exercise in restraint and elegance. Lengthy, well-resolved tannins complement and balance a soft impression of red currants, toasted anise and sweet earth on the palate. Excellent alongside roasted Chianina beef or wood-grilled lamb loin. -- Frank Splane, Moore Brothers Wine Company, April 1, 2006
