2005 Domaine Daniel Rion et Fils Clos Vougeot
|
Merchant Reviews The boundaries of the Clos Vougeot have not changed since 1336 when it was officially created by the Cistercian order of monks. It is both the largest of the Grands Crus, as well as one of the most fractionalized; its 125 acres divided among eigthy-plus owners. Rion's vines are 55 years old, are very well located on the mid-slope of the vineyard, and give full-bodied wine with rich ripe plum and black cherry flavors, a soft mouthfeel, very integrated tannins, and the long and lingering palate for which the Clos Vougeot is famous. -- Greg Moore, Moore Brothers Wine Company, July 14, 2007
