Like many of their contemporaries, the De Marchi family, in the early days of Isole e Elena's existence, came to believe that Tuscany's wine future lay in the international varieties and international styles gaining so much notoriety in California.
Consequently, they planted 5 hectares of premium clones from the Northern Rhône, Bordeaux, and Burgundy on the hills facing southwest above frazione Isole.
Paolo's Syrah is complex and soft on the nose, and its intense palate reveals lush and powerful fruit. A rich, gamey, quintessentially Tuscan Syrah, it is perfectly integrated with elegant, finely grained oak notes, and tremendous persistence. A perfect complement to roasted venison and wild boar.
