2011 Corzano e Paterno Corzanello Rosso
|
Merchant Reviews Fattoria Corzano e Paterno is a unique, family-run farm that was established in 1973 by Wendle Gelpke and his extended family. Farming includes vines, olives, and sheep. All three produce some of Europe's finest examples of wine, olive oil, and cheeses.
Aljosha Goldschmidt, Wendle's nephew, directs the winegrowing and production on this estate that lies within the old Chianti di San Pancrazio, just outside of San Casciano.
This Sangiovese-based wine (produced from young vines to showcase aromatic purity) exhibits bright red cherry fruit with undertones of fennel and earth in the finish. Il Corzanello is an excellent wine for lighter foods and appetizers. -- Brian Healy, Moore Brothers Wine Company, June 26, 2012
