2011 Domaine Corsin Saint-Véran Vieilles Vignes
|
Merchant Reviews Hard-driving Gilles Corsin splits his time between the courtier business he took over from his father almost 20 years ago and the cellar at Domaine Corsin, where he makes the finest wine in Saint-Véran. His brother, Jean-Jacques, a gentle giant with a ruddy face and forearms that are uniformly tanned by the vineyard sun, tends the grapes. Together, they are a perfect team. This limpid, saturated yellow-gold wine is fine Burgundy, so use a large, well-shaped glass. The nose unfurls gradually with white peaches, crushed limestone, orange blossoms, and lavender. On the palate, the wine is super concentrated and dry, with intense limestone-grown Chardonnay flavors that echo the nose, adding pears and fresh orange zest, and a fleeting suggestion of honeycomb, all seasoned with mouth watering, saline minerality, and fresh, electrifying acidity. -- Greg Moore, Moore Brothers Wine Company, November 19, 2012
