(100% pinot noir; disgorged October, 2011; L 10 11): Pale peach skin
color. Intensely perfumed bouquet of cherry pit, minerals and dried
rose, with a hint of blood orange. A spicy, tightly focused Champagne
that offers lively red berry and citrus fruit flavors and a silky
texture. Gains weight with air and finishes with excellent clarity and lingering notes of orange pith and licorice.
Pale gold with a strong mousse. Intensely mineral nose displays Meyer lemon, lime, green apple, pungent herbs and chalky minerals. Clean and finely etched, with energetic citrus, anise and wet stone flavors underscored by honeysuckle and quinine. An uncompromising Champagne that delivers impressive finishing lift, cut and persistence. There's no way that I'd have guessed this wine was made entirely from red grapes.
