Inky ruby. Highly aromatic nose displays smoky red and dark berries, botanical herbs, potpourri and licorice. Sweet black raspberry and boysenberry flavors boast superb concentration and energy, with fine-grained tannins adding support and shape. Becomes more tangy on the finish, which delivers a whiplash of luscious, spicy dark berries. This wine was made by Ester Nin of Clos Erasmus from a single 1.8-hectare vineyard of 70-to-100-year-old vines.
