Good ruby-red. Lovely complex nose melds blackberry, redcurrant, dark cherry, rose petal, gravel and earth. Plush and sophisticated on the palate, but with plenty of shape and lift, not to mention power. This round wine finishes with fine-grained tannins, good weight and excellent persistence. Makes the '08 seem a bit green and spiky by comparison. Incidentally, this was the last vintage made by Michelle Edwards. Philippe Melka took over winemaking here in early 2010, and was responsible for blending the 2009s.
