(60% merlot and 20% each syrah and grenache, raised in barriques, one-third of them new): Bright purple. Dark berries, pipe tobacco and
spices on the fragrant nose. Round and fleshy, with good depth to its
gently sweet cherry and cassis flavors. Notes of mint and cracked pepper give the palate a tangy edge. Shows a refreshingly bitter quality
on the finish, where the cherry and spice notes carry through. These vines are
planted just outside the northern boundary of Chateauneuf du Pape, near
Courthezon and the Sabons' winery.
