(entirely from the premier cru Clos Blanc): Bright red-ruby. Wild aromas of redcurrant, blueberry, menthol, iron and fresh blood (there's a lot of red soil here, notes Boillot). Juicy but quite closed and rather masculine in style, showing hints of prune, game, menthol and underbrush; combines very ripe and cooler notes. Not as aromatic as Boillot's Volnays but finishes with good length. With its crunchy skin character (there were a lot of millerande grapes), Boillot carried out a gentle extraction "to avoid making Cote-Rotie."
