Pauillac Long on woodsy, black coffee and toffee-like complexities from the very first sniff, this solid, richly oaked wine exhibits a foundation of berries and blackcurrant fruit that becomes a little more visible in the mouth than it is in the nose. Slightly supple in feel and fairly smooth in its overall construction, the wine is surprisingly approachable given its age and may prove to be at its best in only three or four years.

Good bright ruby. Musky aromas of raspberry, cassis and bitter chocolate, with a floral nuance I don't often find in this wine. Dense and sweet but lively, with a medicinal black fruit austerity, very good flavor definition and a faint mintiness. Classic raw berry cabernet character. Shows good density and sweetness on the persistent finish, which features rich, broad tannins.

Great blend. A very nice complement to a dry aged sirloin steak, but we should have waited another two years.
