Duckhorn Vineyards Merlot Estate Grown Napa Valley
Merchant Reviews
Napa Valley, CA- "The richness moves toward a fresh tobacco scent and the texture becomes increasingly luscious: chocolate bliss with cherries underneath. There's enough sex appeal and length of flavor to make it more than a one-glass wonder." From their best Estate vineyards. Wine & Spirits

10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Very much an adherent of the ripe and opulent style so typical of Duckhorn Merlots, this generous, positively mouthfilling wine is long on extracted and very well-defined black-cherry fruit. It is sweetened by nicely placed oak and intimates notes of milk chocolate here and there, and, after a slightly fat start on the palate, it is solid, structured and shows balanced acids and tannins. It is certain to develop nicely over the next four or five years, but it is already a satisfying and very easy-to-taste wine.

Dark ruby-red. Deep aromas of currant, dark chocolate, licorice, tobacco leaf and earth. Broad, supple and rich, with a restrained sweetness and fat flavors of cherry, currant, chocolate and tobacco. Finishes with a fine dusting of tannins. Lacks only the lift and definition for a higher score.

5.0 of 5 Stars For A Special Evening
By Ross12106758, September 12, 2006
First tasted while touring Napa. It was easily the best wine we tried. Soft, fruity, and full of flavor it was perfectly matched with a grilled filet mignon. It's expensive but you should keep one handy if you want to impress someone on that "special evening".
