It may be one of the newest vineyards in the (now-exploding) Virginia wine scene, but the farm itself was an apple orchard for more than a hundred years.There's a genuine quality to the wines at Barren Ridge, and each of them are on a competitive level with wines from much more well-known regions. The whites are crisp, and elegant (especially the 2008 Viognier, which is an absolute home run), and the reds display the kind of young potential that's easy to see throughout the entire commonwealth of Virginia.
There's a heart to this place, and my bet is that once you stop by for yourself; you'll fall in love with the place yourself.
