Muirwood Pinot Noir Arroyo Seco
Merchant Reviews
Arroyo Seco, Central Coast, CA- Attractive, smoky cherry and plum flavors pack this silky wine. New French and seasoned oak barrels add a velvety texture to the elegant refinement of this smooth Pinot Noir. Great with grilled or poached salmon, pork and chicken dishes. {Elegant, Cherry, Plum, Medium-bodied}

5.0 of 5 Stars The Champion Pinot Noir
By Hoty13503866, April 12, 2009
This brilliant pinot is a delicious, soft and surprising wine that left me reeling. Sparkling aromas of soft cherry, oak and vanilla with a finish that will have you daydreaming. AWESOME.

We had this with grilled tuna. A very solid pinot for the price. Vanilla and cherry, mild tannins, but not too overpowering.
5.0 of 5 Stars Highly under rated Pinot Noir

Could easily be priced higher...silky textured and smooth finish resemble the pricier pinots...has rich flavor typical of a classic Californian Pinot Noir.

For the price an exceptionally nice wine.
4.0 of 5 Stars I like the wood
By Drexel11488843, June 21, 2009
Wood gives some complexity, light fruit, very light tannins in the 2005 drunk June 2009. Good with anything seasoned with oregeano.

Wonderful nose of cherry and spice, enough wood to stand out amoung value wines. Smooth, easy drinking. Silky, lingering finish.
4.0 of 5 Stars Requires Patience

The '05 is still a little tight. It did not offer up much in the first few minutes out of the bottle. I was prepared for another disappointing Pinot. However, after about an hour it began displaying a nose of leather, cola and black cherries. These were carried through on a pleasantly weighty palate. Not a thin Pinot at all. There was leather, berries, cola and was that a hint of Asian Five Spice way in the back? At the price it is definitely worth a taste, just be patient with it. I'll go back for more!
3.0 of 5 Stars 3.5 Stars: Unremarkable Pinot Noir
By Thumper 12141604, February 18, 2008
This 2005 Muirwood offering exhibits many of the same shortcomings as many other PN's from this vintage. Faint floral nose, weak cherry and berry palate, rounded lackluster tannins. Probably as good as any other 2005 PN at this price point. A decent slightly chilled apertif with softer cheeses. Otherwise serve it with pork, chicken and grilled fish meals. Let's hope that the next vintage will be better.
