Year in and year out, they are our most consistent Napa Valley wine, playing on a wonderful sense of power and seduction with great balance and finesse. The 2006 Caymus Special Selection has been receiving unprecedented hype from wine dealers across the country.
After tasting this opulent wine, we clearly understand that this is one of Caymus’ best. There is a wonderful sense of harmony and balance, while still retaining an up-front, fleshy style with a density and concentration that is the mark of a winner. Flavors of black fruits, currants, and plums meld nicely with lead pencil and a hint of cedar, possessing all the attributes that make this wine so special. This is the good stuff!! Tasting Notes - Deep, almost purple crimson color. Concentrated aromas of cassis and plum lead to flavors of dark berry fruits, ripe currant and cocoa, framed by a slightly toasty oak. This incredibly rich and full-bodied wine shows well-structured, silky tannins and a long, velvety finish. According to the Wine Spectator: Ripe, spicy, fleshy and intense, with a rich mix of earthy, loamy currant, herb and black cherry fruit that's focused and persistent. 94 points-WS.
