Of all the Chateau in the Medoc perhaps none has shown the effort and drive for perfection over the last decade or so than Pontet Canet. From being one of the very few certified biodynamic wineries in Bordeaux, to their impeccable vineyard practices (small crates for grapes at harvest, intensive sorting, horse drawn plows in most of the vineyards, gentle gravity flow in the winery are just some of the things at work here), they are making wines that some say can rival the First Growths. It is a large property at 80 hectares, located just south of Mouton Rothschild with Garonne gravel on top of Limestone bedrock. The 2010 is an incredibly deep, saturated, focused wine with incredible concentration, ample tannins and a magnificent future ahead of it for those who have the patience to wait the 20-40 years that this wine will need to fully reach its peak One of the top wines of the vintage! Robert Parker writes "Multidimensional with massive concentration as well as vivid purity, precision and freshness, this is another astonishing effort from an obsessive/compulsive proprietor who is doing everything right. On the downside, this 2010 will require a decade of cellaring and should evolve for 50+ years. It will be fascinating to drink it side by side with the 2009 and 2008."
