Chateau La Tour Blanche
School's in session at La Tour Blanche. The wines here are produced at the local Ecole de Viticulture et Oenologie, and the estate itself has been owned by the French Ministry of Agriculture since 1911. Acquired as a gift, La Tour Blanche holds a dual purpose: functioning both as a working Sauternes estate as well as a center for viticultural education.

As for the Grand Vin, this is one of the sweetest and most opulent wines in Sauternes. Vines are 83% Semillon with 12% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle, planted on gravel and sandy soils. Recent vintages have been very consistent, showing compelling peachy fruit with firm underlying acid spine.
