Domaine Albert Boxler
Based in the mountain village of Niedermorschwihr, just west of Colmar, Domaine Albert Boxler possesses 26 acres of organically farmed vines, the bulk of which are Grand Cru. Under Albert's grandson, Jean Boxler, the domain produces some of Alsace's most structured, concentrated, mineral-driven Rieslings with excellent texture, weight and cellaring potential. It doesn't hurt that the domain has parcels of two of the region's best grand crus for Riesling, Sommerberg and Brand. Look also for high-quality wines made from "less than noble" varietals; there is fine Chasselas and Sylvaner here.
