Chateau Clerc-Milon
A brand new winery, unveiled in 2011, sits just north of the village of Mousset in Pauillac. More than 100 solar panels cover the roof, which is enough to provide all the power for the facility. The vineyards are scattered among 100 different parcels between Milon and Mousset, although the vast majority are located on the Mousset crest in close proximity to the Gironde estuary.
With its fairly substantial percentage of Merlot, the result of a recent gradual shift away from Cabernet, this Pauillac often displays an exotic aromatic character, with rich, if sometimes rather medicinal-scented, fruit and smooth tannins. The wines of Chateau Clerc-Milon are ultimately closer in style to big brother Mouton-Rothschild than to Armailhac, which is also owned by the Rothschild family.
