Chateau L'Evangile
The vines cover 16 hectares on the southeastern Pomerol plateau. 80% are Merlot, which accounts for the wine's fruity flavor, body and suppleness, while the remainder are Cabernet Franc, adding an element of finesse. Clay in the soil contributes to the wine's power, while a sizable component of gravel, uncharacteristic of Pomerol as a whole, lends an impressive delicacy. Look for compelling aromatic complexity and chocolatey ripeness with enough supple tannins for long aging in the eponymous Grand Vin.
