About Laurel Glen Vineyard
The precious 3-acre parcel that gave birth to Laurel Glen Vineyard was first planted by German immigrants back in 1880. But it was Patrick Campbell who rediscovered the plot in 1974 and set to work expanding the vineyard to its current size of 16 acres.
1999 Laurel Glen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Mountain
Producer: Laurel Glen Vineyard
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Cabernet Sauvignon
Origin: California
Region: Sonoma
91-94 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2001
Saturated medium ruby. Nose is more fruit-driven than that of the "regular" estate wine: black cherry, cassis, minerals and cigar tobacco. Fleshy and sweet, but with strong, harmonious acidity. Denser, richer and bigger in structure than the regular wine, with more refined tannins. But this very backward cabernet will take many years to reach its peak of drinkability. Campbell may give it extra time in barrel before bottling it. Previously, this estate offered a small quantity of reserve cabernet in 1993 and 1990.
