Red-ruby. Cherry and raspberry aromas are dominated by musky oak notes of cinnamon and clove oil. Fairly large-scaled and brooding; thick and textured but not yet filled in. But this has a rather suave, airy texture and good underlying richness. Like the following bottle, the sweetness of its fruit flavors is nicely reined in. This '98 is a vineyard selection, rather than a second wine of the estate.
