87-90 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - January/February 2000
100% destemmed fruit; malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging in all new barriques. Saturated ruby. Ripe aromas of cassis, black raspberry, plum preserves, chocolate and sweet oak; this reminded me a bit of New World merlot. Fat, silky and pliant; a big, ripe mouthful of wine with just enough acidity to keep it fresh. Finishes with fine tannins and sneaky length.
