1997 Josmeyer Gewurztraminer
Producer: Josmeyer
Style: White Wine
Grape Type: Gewurztraminer
Origin: France
Region: Alsace
86 Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 1999
Clove, cured meat and honeysuckle on the nose. Good depth of flavor and balancing acids; the spice and cured meat notes echo in the mouth. Chewy for a basic gewürztraminer bottling. In 1997, says Ehrhart, the gewürztraminers generally integrated their richness more successfully than the tokays, which have a tendency to be alcoholic, and the rieslings, which are often overly powerful and lacking in finesse.
