9% Petit Verdot; 4% Cabernet Franc. Led by deep, compelling, many-layered aromas of cassis, oak, toast and tea, this complex and eminently well-filled wine wins highest honors for both its unabashed richness and its impression of careful integration. It is fairly full in body with a slightly fleshy feel, intense and lasting flavors of sweet, ripe currants, black cherries and dried roses and a firm structure that commends long, patient keeping despite its plentiful immediate appeal. Cellaring it for some six to ten years would hardly be too much.

Massive stuff with a long way to go before it's ready.

This wine needs 1.5 - 2 hours of air in the bottle to show its full force, but once you allow that...WOW! The wine is huge with a multi-layered texture (though not to the extent of '94 Dominus) and ripe, rich fruit with tons of eart and spice. A hint of dry honey is also present. Phenominal and, while $88 can never be considered a good value, relative to the prices for wines like Insignia, Opus, Quintessa, BV Georges de LaTour, Montelena, Silver Oak Napa, the auction prices for Cinq Cepages, etc, this wine is not overpriced.
