($90) Saturated deep ruby. Cassis, leather and game on the roasted nose. A powerful wine with terrific thrust; sweet but tight, with somewhat grapey black fruit, floral and leather flavors. Pure, long and subtle on the back, with very even tannins. But conveys more Hermitage power and primary dark fruits than Cote-Rotie verve.
