Lovely example of 1999 Chianti!

Deep ruby color, with a nose of plum, gravel and stones, and truffles, the backward nose is deceiving as the mouth reveals a fruit bomb of bright cherry fruit. There is a mineral background, a nice soft structure of acid and tannin to balance, and a long, lovely fruit finish with hints of clove and pepper. VinItaly, 4-5-01
