1999 Vall Llach Vall Llach Priorat

Singer/songwriter Lluís Llach was one of Spain's key musical figures in the late 1960s, but by the 1990s he had turned his focus to wine, starting this estate in Porrera, one of the nine villages that together constitute Priorat. The core of the estate's holdings are the old Garnacha and Cariñena plots, with vines 60-90 years of age. Since the estate was founded, they've been supplmented with new Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah plantings. Ultimately, these are Garnacha and Cariñena velvety-rich wines that are strikingly concentrated and loaded with sweet, spicy berry fruit, with normally suave tannins.
