Great value, great finish.
Just a novice, but we really like this wine. Easy to drink, looks great, like the finish. With or without food.
nice balance.. nose of cherry with chocolate and leather on the palate
Red berry & cherry flavors, spice and coffee notes, lingering finish - BEST BUY
Very Good Value
Excellent for an everyday wine. Great for a Saturday afternoon with some cheese and crackers. I expect the 2007 vintage will only be better than the 2006 we tried.
Great Cab at less than $8
This Cab is a great value. It does not have the body of the $12 - 15 bottles, but it starts off great and has a very smooth finish.
A smooth intetresting cab
nice and smooth, not as good as the merlot, but still a great wine for the money.
good - not great
Still good drinking.
I agree with previous comments. One of best values out there but 2004 was definitely better with more body and better finish than the currently available 2005.
Friday Night Vino
Columbia Crest Grand Estates Cab took second place in a blind test under $20. with thirty of my wine drinking cronies three years ago and I have been drinking it with pizza and burgers ever since. Particularly liked the 2004 and will ask Total Wine if they can locate more.
Always enjoyable - awesome QPR at a sub $10 price point
well balanced medium bodied cab. Awesome finish. Some may find it over the top on oak.
I love big complex cabs and have reviewed a few here. Let me know if I'm missing one!
Value makes it a 4
Are there better wines? No doubt. Are there 5 USA made red wines that provide a better value? Not in my mind. This is consistantly amazing bang for the buck, and I am never ashamed to serve it or drink it as I have paid 3x as much for something that is half the wine.
Back in the day, I used to really like this inexpesive wine. I picked up a few bottles recently, and either the wine has changed dramatically, or my palate has. I was disappointed in the body, wasn't fond of the accents (too much "old" fruit and leather), and the finish is flat and acidic. You can do much better for $10/bottle. If you plan on drinking multiple bottles of differnt wines, make sure this one is uncorked FIRST!
Columbia Crest 2002 Cabnernet Sauvignon
Pretty good deal at this price point. Lots of tart blackberry and marionberry in this one. WS rating of 87 is a little happy for this wine. Still good with barbeque.
There really are no great wines in this price range, but this is one to keep on hand for casual drinking or for a party wine when a boxed wine won't make it. Clearly one of the best cheap Cabs.
Well balanced for the price.
Put it in cellar for 5 years
This wine is very young and light but with an great potential for the future.
for a Washington State wine, it was not very good. Possibly just a bad bottle.
Great value for $9. Will buy a few more...
Keep this on hand for those times you need an inexpensive cab (you know when.) A few close friends deserve better, but when anticipating running through a half case or more this will satisfy most guests and save a bunch of money.
Cheap and tastes like it. I don't know why Wine Spectator likes this wine so much.
