($40-$52) Good ruby-red. Exotic, highly aromatic nose features leather, cedar, roast coffee, minerals and chocolate. Smooth on entry, then a bit pinched in the mid-palate, with a faint peppery herbaceousness. Not overly tannic but seems a bit dry for a 2000.

This wine is vastly different than two years ago and is much richer, sweeter, and more powerful than described by Tanzer. Look for upgrades on this all around.
Surprisingly good

More like 4 and 1/2... Had a bottle just after receiving it last year as a futures order, and it was very lush and refined, with a cedar and cassis nose. Glad I made the order! But the 2001, which I have tasted on three occasions, lacks such attributes, tasting rather innocuous and earning only two stars.
