About Havens Wine Cellars
Prior to selling his winery, Michael Havens made Merlot in a distinctly Bordeaux style, with a restrained sweetness and notes of lead pencil, minerals, game and tobacco leaf. He was also a pioneer of California Syrah in a distinctly northern Rhône style, typically showing notes of dark fruits, black pepper and gunflint.

Pale, green-tinged color. Subtle aromas of lime, apple and spring flowers. Juicy and supple in the mouth, a bit less penetrating than the '00. More cyanic, minerally flavors of apple pit and nut skin. Finishes with good length and a slight dry edge. I'd recommend drinking this wine over the next year or two.
