Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Special Select (in magnum)

No other wine region of France is so dominated by a single firm as is Beaujolais by Duboeuf. Many blame Doboeuf for the proliferation of Beaujolais Nouveau bottlings and the debased reputation of the region, but there is quality here as well. The dozens of bottlings each year emphasize sweetness and supple textures, and prices are extremely reasonable. Duboeuf's top grower-designated bottlings tend to be a bit more serious. The firm also does plenty of work elsewhere in Burgundy and in the Rhône Valley.
