You can't get much better than this soft chardonnay; mellow oak reminds of smooth semi-sweet chocolate. Fruit and flowers mingle to achieve a supple balance. First 5-star rating I've given...

The WSJ wine critics picked this as one of their favorite American Chards (on 4/28/05). Here's what they had to say:
"Best of tasting and best value. Tastes expensive, with tight, nicely acidic fruit, nutmeg and cinnamon and a good underpinning of earth and chalk. Classy and full. Good with lobster."

Read the same WSJ article and went out and got a bottle of the 2003. Good, pleasant wine, but not as good as I was expecting after reading the article. I give the $6.99 Gumdale 2004 a slight edge.
